Ain't Hillary and other Republoons

A few of you might already know this, but there are races besides the presidential in the coming election.  You don't have to thank me for enlightening you.

If you can ever cut past the perpetual reality show haze on the TV, you might figure out there's another pretty big race for Kentuckians.  A U.S. senate seat is up for grabs.  One candidate is a Texan who moved to Kentucky to run for president. He probably never heard of Henry Clay.  The other one is a successful business owner and popular mayor of Kentucky's second largest city.

This being Kentucky, the Texan leads in the polls.  Being the incumbent sure helps when running for Senator, although the guy with the poodle doo is pretty quiet about his one term in office.  Besides following his oval aspirations, Randy can't seem to name much he's done in D.C.  Leading the state party into a caucus probably isn't the best resume builder.

Jim Gray, on the other hand, has a pretty good looking resume if you're looking for what once counted as real accomplishments.  Not so much if you're looking for idealogues.  He took over the family business and grew it into one of the 20 largest design and construction firms in the country.  He was elected mayor of a city with serious financial issues and turned them around, winning a second term in 2014.

Of course the Texan is a Republican, the homegrown businessman and mayor a Democrat. I'm not sure why Kentucky Republicans can't find a Kentuckian to run for office, but I digress.

Like most Republicans, Senator Randy is running on the basis that he isn't Hillary or Barack, but his opponent is.

Maybe if any Republican actually did anything for anyone, they'd put that in their ads.  But since they haven't and they don't plan on it, they just invoke our multiple boogeymen of Obama, Hillary and Warren Cole.

Most of them will do anything to keep from reminding you their nominee for the nation's highest office is a total fraud in bed with our longest term enemy.  It's downright hillarious to hear Republicans publicly hailing Vladimir Putin and Julian Assange like they once did Jefferson and Franklin.

For the last eight years, the Republicans in Washington have actively worked to undercut our country.  They have blocked business, have refused to fill judiciary vacancies, and have worked against the interests of all Americans.  It is a party that despises democracy. It is a party that despises America.

That last paragraph isn't supposed to be funny. There is a supreme court seat sitting vacant because one party has no respect for the will of the people.   Last week John McCain suggested if Clinton is the next president, the Republicans would block any Supreme Court nomination she makes.

If that isn't the sound of an organization that has long exceeded it's usefulness in a democratic republic, I'm not sure what is.  If we are going to allow political parties to operate, shouldn't we at least hold them to the standard of working for our country?
