Example?

You know what they say about being a good example, don't you? If you can't be a good example, you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

That is the potential secret silver lining of the Trump administration. Can you hear me?

I share the sentiments of both the Carter Family and Monty Python. I always look on the bright side of life and I keep on the sunny side. So hear me out.

Sometimes a horrible warning is a lot more effective than a good example. And good examples are rare as hen's teeth in this White House. So we might be rich.

For example.

If you're going to have a secretary of War, make it someone with more military experience than 2 years of active duty and 8 years of reserve duty. Probably should choose someone more known for their achievements than time served pontificating on Fox News.

We have military academies for a reason, maybe we insist the head of the military come from one of them? At least a baseline being someone with just a full active duty military career?

That way, you know, the Secretary will know those complicated things like international and U.S. laws of engagement. And the less complicated things like not to share secret attack plans with family over public message apps from your personal phone.

Because if you don't, this is what you get. Feels like a horrible warning to me.

Speaking of, how about what happens when you put a deep state conspiracist who worked for the government but can show no evidence in charge of the FBI?

As soon as you can find a women's size medium official FBI jacket with pretend service patches we'll let you know.

Then again, what happens when your Attorney General, the top cop in the land, suggests ignoring court decisions you don't like. The Florida man's got nothing on the Florida woman. Turns out when your AG works outside the law, you lose a few court cases.

We saw what happened when you put a billionaire drug addict in charge of cutting government waste. He kneecapped all the agencies that regulated his various companies, wrote himself a few billion more in government contracts, and screwed tens of thousands of Americans who served the American people. Then ran off to collect his trillion dollars.

We've typed so much about the prodigal Bobby it's hard to believe he continues to prove how bad an idea it really is to put an anti-vaccine conspiracist attorney in charge of a nation's healthcare. Got measles? Don't worry, it's coming to a family near you.

You've got to admit, this is just a drop in the bucket of horrible warnings we've been blessed with in just under 11 months. And as hard as I try, I can't find a single good example to spoil the horribleness of the warning.

But it might not be enough. A lot of people will still pull the lever for the loudest pro-Trump candidate. Not everyone heeds the horrible warning. This whole thing is a good example of that.
