They say a great salesman can sell ice to eskimos. I've been neither, so I'm no expert on the subject.
What I do know is I'm sick of ICE and I'm sick of salesmen trying to sell me ICE. I'm darned sure no native American would fall for this scam.
It's a slippery subject. In the US, the descendants of immigrants buy that immigrants are so bad you need masked gunmen in the streets tracking them down. There's a word for that (ask Alanis).
They're so bad, according to some, American citizens must provide proof to these masked gunmen that they're Americans themselves if one of these masked gunmen demands.
They're so bad, says the head of ICE, we need to hire soon to be masked gunmen off the streets without background check and put them out there without training.
They're so bad, say our representatives, we've got to accept every now and then one of these masked gunmen are going to kill American citizens who just need to stay out of the way and let the masked gunmen do their job.
Which no one could ever believe isn't only to terrorize urban populations in Democratic controlled states and cities. Especially not when the Republican salespersons say it's to keep hardened criminals out of your living room.
What about the children you might ask? They'll be hardened criminals one day. Or worse, liberals, they say.
Now don't forget, patriots need ICE for their Kool-Aid.
If you're not sure about the ICE, but still love the Kool-Aid, here's a little math lesson with tariffs. I know what you've heard, we've brought billions and billions into our government through tariffs in the last year and soon we'll all get a dividend check.
You know what? That's true (at least the part about billions into the government). Nevermind Americans paid 90% of those billions. That's not important. What's important is that the president is putting big tariffs on Canada and Europe to get them to act right.
Here's the math part.
The United States has the third largest population in the world at around 345 million. Impressive, right? The only two countries with larger populations are China, with 1.1 billion people and India with 1.4 billion people. That's 4 and 4.2 times more people than us, respectively.
In economic terms, that's 4 and 4.2 times more prospective buyers than us. Thanks to tariffs, Canada just agreed to a trade deal with China and the European Union just inked one with India. They're calling it the mother of all deals.
Wonder why the big salesman didn't come up with that?
100% tariff on our goods? Who cares? Canadians already proved they can quit bourbon, it's going to be pretty easy to give up Proctor & Gamble. Small price to pay for quadrupling their sales potential.
Berlin is closer to New Delhi than D.C. Priced out of the American marketplace? Imagine the shipping savings plus the market is 4.2 times larger. How long will it take to move our Volkswagen plants to Calcutta?
Eskimos might suggest you quit buying what those guys are selling.
