I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around some of the political ads running 24/7. Like that's any different from the jokers they promote.
But you know it's a weird time when the attorney general of your state, presumably the state's top law enforcement official, boasts about being endorsed by a man with over 90 standing felony counts in four different courtrooms.
I guess "the only candidate endorsed by indicted felon Donald Trump" has a certain ring to it for some. And if that's the only thing you can really come up with as a positive for the guy who was Attorney General for 4 years, then you run with it.
Most attorney generals running for governor boast about putting away dangerous criminals or busting up shady businesses or reducing the number of drug overdoses in their state. Kentucky's latest AGRFG didn't do any of those things, but he did bring lawsuits against the governor and federal government for programs meant to help people.
I guess even Republican campaign advertisers don't think "Plotting to take poor people off of healthcare since 2015" is much of a slogan. They also seem to have read the political winds and "Investigating women's health choices since 2021" is off the table. "Your tax dollars for religious schools" almost made the cut but was dropped when someone pointed out most of his constituency is against anything school. They'd probably go for "your tax dollars for protestant churches''.
Speaking of that, expect legislation coming out of the Republican controlled House now that a new Speaker has finally been seated. The new Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson of Louisiana, hits the trifecta of modern Republicanism: he's an election denier, he believes women have no medical rights, and he believes you and I should be governed by his religion.
The indicted felon was behind the last 3 weeks of Republican led chaos and buffoonery. The indicted felon handpicked the new Speaker and the new speaker will do everything he can to attack the enemies of Trump. Expect a government shutdown coming very soon.
How can I be so sure? The last speaker isn't speaker now because he didn't shut the government down when he had a chance. The new guy won't make that mistake. The Donald wants to break America.
But they better be moving fast. Trump's co-conspirators are pleading out in the Georgia case and in the federal January 6 case. The trial underway in New York regarding Trump's business fraud is not going well. He's been fined twice for breaking gag orders because he just can't keep his mouth shut.
Our crime loving attorney general only has a couple of weeks before an election so he probably won't get to brag about being endorsed by a convicted felon. But there'll be some despicables running for office next year who'll definitely get the opportunity.
The biggest question coming in the next election season is how many felony convictions will the Republican nominee for president have and how many states will kick him off the ballot because of it.
Can't wait to see how the ad guys run that!
