We're 120 days into the Bevin Administration and it's been quite the Reign of Error. Governor Granite has provided weekly punch lines for late night tv hosts from New York to New Delhi since taking office in December.
Matty boy is trending all the time on the social media which is exactly what the governor of our commonwealth should be focusing on. If you need a good laugh, check out his YouTube channel. If you live in Kentucky and need a good laugh, check the North Carolina news.
Last week the governor went all colonial and declared a 4.5% reduction for higher education across the board. Unfortunately, the Attorney General of the commonwealth noticed that we weren't a colony anymore and declared the governor has to spend based on what the legislature says, not what the king nor his kids suggest at breakfast.
At least he gave him a week to think about it. It's been tough for Governor Granite to understand that he wasn't elected Lord Cumberland, which is his highest aspiration. I hope somewhere a historian just chuckled.
Being governor is supposed to be like running a business. Whatever you say goes, your underlings throw you a party on your birthday, and you get your name on stuff.
Following the credo "If it ain't broke, give us a minute...", the administration has successfully broken several well regarded and highly competent programs coming from Frankfort. Rare things indeed. Instead of a working KyNect good luck finding a cure with Benefind. Bettafindalawyer would have been a more appropriate handle.
So at least the administration is making progress on it's plan to take us to the bottom. And of course, I blame the Democrats . Right thinking rarely overcomes incompetence.
Speaking of...maybe this is a good time to come clean. My voting registration since 1980 has been Independent. In those years I've been registered to vote in Ohio, Delaware, Georgia and Kentucky. Always Independent.
Last month, I changed my registration to Democrat so I can vote in the primary here. Those other states have open primaries like real democracies should, so this year I'll be voting in my first presidential primary in years.
I did it to vote for Bernie Sanders. Unlike Hilary or Ted or the Donald, Bernie has been the mayor of a city. The company I once worked for had a facility in his city, Burlington, Vermont. It was one of IBM's most requested transfer locations because of the livability of the place. It's still considered one of the best towns to live in the U.S.
I'm not Bernt to a crisp like some, but I do have a light sunBern on my shoulders. I think he's addressed fundamental issues Americans worry about. I don't think he has all the answers at all. But he definitely has a lot of the right questions, the ones that most effect us. By us I mean everyone right here in eastern Kentucky.
That's why I'm going to vote for him in the primary. If he wins the nomination, that is great. If he doesn't win, that's okay, too. I'll definitely vote for whoever is the Democratic candidate. Hillary isn't half as evil as Republicans and Feel the Berners would have us believe.
